JUMPER

Tonight someone jumped off the 12th floor of a building on my block. I was walking home from my subway stop and I noticed that part of Lexington Ave was blocked off, so I walked around to Third Ave. When I arrived at my building, I heard chatter about the jumper. It happened just an hour earlier. They say he was 35 years old and lived alone. Apparently his doorman said he looked sad the past few days. I wondered who he was, what was going on in his life that led to this. Horrific. It's a very sad night on my block. And the rain isn't helping.
