REALBIRTH
Preparing for parenthood has exposed Carol and I to a whole new community in New York City: expecting parents. It's been quite an adventure talking with other couples who are expecting around the same time as us. We signed up for birthing classes at Realbirth. It's a beautiful, comfortable space with exposed brick, and it's in my old hood, Hell's Kitchen. I think one of the things I've been most fascinated by are the options that you have in New York City for giving birth. There are dozens of hospitals and hundreds of doctors to choose from. There are also midwives, doulas, birthing centers, and even home birth options. In our class of about 8-10 couples, there is so much diversity in preferences. Hopefully I'll have time to blog about parenthood in the coming months. We'll see. I'm a little worried about the lack of sleep I'm sure to experience.
