RESTAURANT REVIEW: BASTA PASTA

I haven't done a restaurant review in a while because we mostly eat at home these days. But recently Carol and I had a date night. This restaurant has probably one of the worst names you could give a business. It doesn't represent the restaurant's style or quality at all. But Basta Pasta has been one of our favorites over the years. The Japanese know how to make pasta. They cook it well, and combine it with interesting ingredients like sea urchin, snap peas, and flying fish roe. Pretty much everything we ordered was superb as always, but two dishes stood out...

Tortino di Granchio. This appetizer featured crab meat, avocado, green apples, and a grapefruit jelly. A great summer dish.

Spaghetti with Parmigiano Reggiano (carved from a Parmesan wheel at the table) and Parma Prosciutto. This entree was light, fragrant, and came together really well.
