As part of this blog I'm beginning a new series of nods to New Yorkers. There's no real purpose behind this series except to highlight some folks who keep New York interesting, some famous, some not so famous. My first nod is to the legendary New York Lottery spokesperson. Yolanda Vega captivates. Countless viewers - even those without lottery tickets - find themselves glued to the TV set when she announces the day's lottery numbers. I don't know if there's anyone who takes more pride in their own name. And I don't know what's more remarkable: how she says her name, or that she's said it thousands of times like they were all the first time. Yolanda Vega is the New York lottery.
