Today I attended the Fundraising Day conference at the Marriott Marquis. The hotel has my favorite elevators in the city. They're like space pods. If you haven't seen them before, there are a series of elevators that run up and down a cylinder. There are no floor buttons inside them. Instead, there's a central floor request button that you press. Once you select a floor number, the system automatically points you to a specific elevator to take. It stops on your floor and takes you directly to your destination. It's pretty cool. But what's even cooler is staring up the cylinder and watching these pods shoot up and down. You feel like you're in Blade Runner.
