MACY'S THANKSGIVING PARADE VIEWING TIP
The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is arguably the best parade in the city mainly because of the enormous balloons. Many parents take their kids to see the balloons get inflated the day before. But going to see the actual parade on Thanksgiving Day can be a bit chaotic. It's extremely difficult to get a decent view. And usually you have to wait outside in the cold for hours in hopes of snagging a spot.
Fortunately my wife had a brilliant idea. Since the parade travels east along Central Park South before turning south onto Sixth Avenue, there's a great way to get great views and avoid the crowds altogether: inside the Park. All you need to do is get into the Park and walk along the path that runs just below the south end of the lower loop. You won't have to get there hours in advance, you'll have all the space you want, and you'll have excellent views like these:
