NEW YORK CARES DAY

The amount of volunteers that the nonprofit group New York Cares is able to assemble for a single day is pretty amazing. For New York Cares Day, the organization mobilized 6,000 volunteers to help paint 90 different public schools in the city. Today really demonstrated the huge impact that nonprofits can play in helping to transform the city. Painting is a simple, but meaningful volunteer task. Everyone can do it. It requires minimal training. And a newly painted building makes everyone - not just the students and faculty - feel good about their community.

If you want to get involved with more volunteer projects, you should definitely check out New York Cares. They have single day projects and ongoing volunteer efforts. They also organize projects for individuals, corporations, and other groups.
