I had an opportunity to read the first three chapters of Donald Miller's upcoming book, "A Million Miles in a Thousand Years", which he posted on his blog yesterday. I enjoyed the draft thoroughly. It got me thinking why I enjoy Don's writing so much. Though there isn't much action and plot momentum in his books, I fly through his pages. When I read his stuff, sometimes I feel like I'm in a coffee shop. Don is sitting across from me and I'm either laughing till it hurts or I'm in awe of the way he just explained something so true and simple. I wish I had half of his writing ability. That would be enough for me to start my own book.
